Notes on Alzheimer's Universe

I was fortunate to recently attend Annual Education Conference on Alzheimer’s, presented by the Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area. It was truly eye-opening, and here is some of the information from the Conference... The keynote speaker was Dr Richard S. Isaacson, Director of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Clinic, Weill Cornell Memory Disorders Program at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He was fascinating, and he shared some of the latest information on Alzheimer’s. Right now, he estimates that 46 million people have pre-clinical Alzheimer’s—that is, they don’t have symptoms, yet it is already in the brain. Of particular note is that Alzheimer’s in now conside

2018 Hurricane Relief: Thank you!

In late 2018, the St. Luke's community donated to specific relief efforts related to two devastating hurricanes, Michael and Florence. We are so grateful to everyone who participated in the relief drive. Read a thank you letter from friends at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in South Carolina HERE. March 31: EYC Earth Hour

St. Luke's is listed as an official Earth Hour participant! Earth Hour is an energy conservation initiative that is observed globally, and our youth get to learn all about it this year. Activities on March 31 for both Jr. and Sr. EYC will include an upcycle/recycle activity and prayer vigil, plus dinner for all at 5:30 pm. Jr. High (middle schoolers) will get together in the Youth Room at 4 pm. After a group dinner at 5:30 pm, Sr. High (high schoolers) will meet at roughly 6 pm in the Youth Room, too. Questions? Easter Lily Donations

We invite you to help beautify St. Luke's by making a donation to the Easter Lily Fund in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving for God's blessings. The plants, placed at the altar, will be a magnificent addition to our celebration of Christ's resurrection. Offering envelopes are available in the back of church or in the church office. Intentions must be submitted by April 11 in order to be included in the bulletin. Thank you!

Wednesday Evenings: Soup & Salvation

Every year, we get together at 6 pm on Wednesday evenings during Lent for a book study and soup dinner. It's a simple and beloved tradition at St. Luke's! This year's book selection, The Furious Longing of God by Brennan Manning, is available in the Church Library, though reading is not required. Here's a bit from the publisher: "...Manning presents a love story for the brokenhearted. For those who are burdened by heavy religion. For those who feel they can never measure up. It is a provocative and poignant look at the radical, no-holds-barred love of our Heavenly Father." Looking forward to another meaningful Soup & Salvation series. Come every Wednesday, or just drop in when you can. 6
