Saint Luke's has a strong music ministry.
The parish family loves to sing service music and hymns, knowing that singing is an important form of worship.
The Adult Choirs play a significant role in worship as well, both by leading congregational singing and presenting anthems appropriate to,
and often quoting, the Scripture lessons appointed for the day. There is a special bond of fellowship shared among choir members which comes from sharing their musical gifts with each other and with the congregation.
Saint Luke's Children's Choirs participate weekly at the 9:00 AM Family Eucharist and the major feasts of the Church year. These choristers participate in a structured rehearsal, building a repertoire of anthems to be used during the Church year, and learning to use the Hymnal and the Prayer Book.
The use of instruments provides a wealth of musical texture which enhances worship each Sunday. In addition to pipe organ accompaniment for hymns and anthems, solo organ works set the proper atmosphere for worship, and are frequently augmented with other instruments as well. Instrumental ensembles often enhance major festival occasions, and the frequent use of solo instruments adds considerable variety of sonority.
It is hoped that the joy of musical expression can contribute to the richness of worship here at Saint Luke's. Parishoners are encouraged to step forward and offer their talents by contacting the Director of Music or the Choir Director.
