St. Luke's Episcopal Day School

Our Day School is an integral part of our ministry, providing a program of quality instruction built upon a solid spiritual foundation.

For many years St. Luke's has involved itself in mission work in Honduras. Most recently, in response to our diocesan companion relationship with the Deanery of Copan, we have begun regular mission visits to help build up the churches and pastors. About fourteen congregations ranging from well organized to barely organized comprise the Deanery; Fr. Juan Jose Diaz together with one other priest provides leadership for the churches.

About St. Luke’s in Honduras
St. Luke’s focuses its work in Honduras in three areas:
  1. To support the priest and his family so that they can better minister to their people.
  2. To build up the local churches through training and material support.
  3. To transform the communities through education and training.
Our latest Mission Trip – February ‘08
St. Luke’s hosted a mission trip February 3-10, 2008 to the Deanery of Copán, focusing on the rural communities of El Zarzal and El Carmen. Our work consisted of beginning construction on two fences for “templos” being built, presenting a women’s workshop on health, sanitation and self-esteem, and having a bible school for the children. Click here to read the full report on the trip.

Next Mission Trip – June, ‘08
Our next mission trip will be our first Youth Trip to Honduras. High school students will go to work in the village of Los Mayas, where a school is being built for the children. We will combine construction-type work with a bible school, worship and a “school carnival” type event. The dates are June 11-18. Because of the necessity of important team training, it will not be possible to include youths from outside the St. Luke’s Parish family. However, a number of adults will be accompanying the youth in this work.

We hope to help the youth earn funds to pay for this trip. If you would like to contribute, you may make a secure online donation below, send offerings to the Church, or place them in the offering plates at any worship service (please mark your checks "Honduras Youth Mission Trip”).
