April 27 & 28: Community Outreach

Three community service opportunities are coming up quickly at the end of April. Pitch in! - Sound the Alarm: On April 27, we need a team of volunteers (ages 16+) to join Red Cross for a fire safety initiative in the Gardere area. By installing free smoke alarms and providing safety information to low-income communities, the Sound the Alarm initiative has saved hundreds of lives since 2014. Meet at Hartley/Vey Park, 1702 Gardere Lane. 8:30 am to 1 pm. Please contact Owen Cope to volunteer: - The Lot Project: That same morning (April 27), another team of St. Luke's volunteers will cook and serve breakfast to the homeless at New Sunlight Baptist Church. Food is provided, so our task will be to prepare the meal, visit with those who attend, then clean up afterwards. 8:30 am until 10:30 am. Please contact Mary Leteff to volunteer: - Veterans Ministry: Our newest ministry is up and running and needs your support! On April 28, we're planning to visit the Veterans Home in Jackson, LA after the morning services, and deliver needed supplies to the residents there. Between now and April 28, please consider donating a few items from the veterans' wishlist: dark roast coffee; M and L t-shirts and boxers; baby oil; baby lotion; poly-grip (no generic brands); spray deodorant; dandruff shampoo; and hair tonic. Items are being collected in the church foyer and church office. Thank you!
