Top Moments 2025

We’re taking a moment to look back at 2025, and wow, what a year it was! Here are our top six highlights that made last year one to remember.

6. Girls Book Club

St. Luke’s Youth Girls Book Club was held for the first time for rising 6th–12th grade girls, meeting on Sundays during the months of June and July. The group read What Will They Think?, a study highlighting nine women of the Bible whose stories encourage faithful and confident living.

5. Speed Fellowship

2025 brought new traditions to St. Luke’s, including a meet-and-greet that invited parishioners to sit down for a quick conversation, helping everyone put names to faces. After the service on September 2,participants enjoyed three-minute conversations with fellow church goers, complete with icebreaker cards and light refreshments. The first event was a big hit, and plans are already underway to host another in 2026.

4. Unveiling of Designs for the New Church

At last year’s Annual Meeting on January 12, Hoffpauir Studio presented the designs for the new church and Pope Hall. This marked the first time members of the congregation were able to see the vision that had been carefully developed for the future of St. Luke’s.

For many, the unveiling was a meaningful moment. Seeing the designs brought months of planning and conversation into focus and made the project feel tangible and real for the first time.

3. Snow Day 2025

On January 21, Baton Rouge recorded 7.6 inches of snowfall, marking the snowiest day since records began in 1892. As snow blanketed the city, photos of St. Luke’s covered in white began to surface and have since been archived as part of the church’s historical record so that it can be remembered for years to come.

2. Fire Anniversary Service

February 17, 2025 marked one year since a pivotal moment in St. Luke’s history. During the commemorative service, the message was clear:the events of the past year did not break the congregation but revealed its resilience and enduring faith. The service honored first responders and service members who assisted during the fire, recognizing their role in supporting the church during a difficult time. With a full congregation in attendance, the day stood as a powerful reflection of unity, perseverance, and hope within the St.Luke’s community.

1. Groundbreaking signifying start of construction

It may come as no surprise that the number one moment of 2025 was the groundbreaking of the new St. Luke’s Church. More than the start of construction, the moment signaled a long-awaited new beginning for the congregation. On All Saints’ Sunday, November 2, parishioners and members of the Baton Rouge community gathered for a packed service that honored the day, celebrated baptisms, and marked the official start of rebuilding both the church and Pope Hall. Following worship, the congregation processed to the church slab, where the ceremonial breaking of ground served as a visible sign of hope and renewal. The day concluded with fellowship and a shared meal, underscoring the resilience and unity that continue to shape St. Luke’s future.

As 2026 begins, the moments that defined 2025 continue to shape what comes next. With construction underway and new traditions established, St. Luke’s moves forward grounded in faith and community, looking ahead to a year filled with purpose and possibility.
