St. Luke’s Vision Survey: A Joyful Look Toward Our Future

As construction steadily progresses and our capital campaign continues to grow in strength and generosity, the people of St. Luke’s have shared a moving and hopeful vision for our new church home. Thank you to all who recently responded to the question, “What are you looking forward to the most about the new church and Pope Hall?” Your responses paint a beautiful picture of what God is preparing for us.

Below are the key themes that emerged—each one pointing toward a future filled with reverence, beauty, fellowship and renewal.

A Return to Reverence in Worship

The most consistent longing expressed was a return to a deeply reverent worship environment. Many parishioners named kneeling—by far the most frequently mentioned element—as a vital expression of humility and prayer.

Other cherished elements included:

  • Altar rails
  • Incense and candles
  • Quiet, prayerful space before worship
  • A sanctuary clearly set apart fellowship space

This reflects a deep yearning for a sacred space where we can once again encounter the beauty and mystery of God.

The Central Role of Sacred Music

Our congregation is eager for the return of:

  • A dedicated choir
  • Acoustics that support and elevate sacred music

For many, music is not just part of worship—it ushers us into worship. The new sanctuary will allow our music ministry to continue flourishing.

A Sanctuary That Feels Like Home

After years of worshiping in a multipurpose room, there is a strong desire for a sanctuary that clearly reflects its sacred purpose.

Parishioners look forward to:

  • Pews and kneelers
  • Stained glass
  • Beautiful lighting
  • Architecture centered on the Christus Rex

These elements help restore our sense of spiritual “home”—a place rooted in beauty, stability, and tradition.

Space for Fellowship and Community Life

While reverence in worship is central, our life together is equally important.

Survey responses highlighted excitement for:

  • A newly restored Pope Hall
  • Parish meals, coffee hours, and events
  • Maintaining the closeness formed during this season of displacement

Our new campus will restore the balance between sacred worship and joyful community gathering.

A Journey of Healing and Resurrection

Many responses reflected the emotional and spiritual journey we’ve traveled since the fire—one marked by grief, hope, perseverance, and deep faith.

People spoke of:

  • Healing
  • Renewal
  • Resurrection after loss
  • Reestablishing the columbarium

The new St. Luke’s is a visible sign of God’s ongoing work among us.

Longing for Stability and “Home” Again

After years of transition, our congregation is more than ready for:

  • A permanent, stable place of worship
  • A quiet church available for weekday prayer
  • A spiritual anchor for parish life

The new church will restore that sense of rootedness.

Practical Design That Supports Ministry

Parishioners also identified several practical needs essential for vibrant ministry:

  • Adequate restrooms
  • A well‑designed sacristy and kitchen
  • Organized storage

These elements may be behind the scenes, but they significantly support hospitality and worship.

A Future Filled With Hope

Your responses offer a clear, uplifting vision for the next chapter of St. Luke’s:

  • A beautiful, reverent sanctuary
  • A renewed experience of choir and sacred music
  • A joyful and welcoming Pope Hall
  • A campus that embodies resilience, gratitude, and resurrection

As construction moves forward and our capital campaign continues, we are not just rebuilding—we are renewing and preparing a spiritual home for generations to come.

Thank you for sharing your hopes. Together, we are building something truly beautiful.
